High Times now has its own clothing line and it’s aimed at people who want to tell the world they proudly represent their love for cannabis.
The clothing line was launched on October 4 and includes a suite of pretty much everything one needs to tell the person sitting next to them that they smoke weed. There’s hats, jackets, sweaters, and of course, t-shirts. There’s even accessories like lighters and a pin set.
If you’re surprised that it took High Times this long to roll out a clothing line, don’t worry, you’re not the only one. But it makes sense, publishers these days are having a tough time finding new streams of revenue to keep the lights, so it’s not surprising to see them pivot in this direction.
We got the chance to ask High Times Chief Operating Officer, Larry Linietsky, a few questions regarding the launch of its new clothing line in a recent email conversation. Here’s what he had to say….
High Times has been around since the 70’s, what made the company decide now, in 2016, to finally release a clothing line?
“While the quest towards rescheduling of marijuana has been peppered with highs and lows, the culture that formed around cannabis has flourished, with advocates for legalization existing in every facet of society – especially in 2016, with so many states moving towards either medical or adult-use legalized cannabis. High Times recognized the need to celebrate the street fighters for cannabis worldwide by giving them banners to fly, and launched the HIGH TIMES Merchandise division in July 2016.”
What’s the future look like for your clothing line?
“High Times has been fortunate to be a counter-culture beacon and we have several collaborations with amazing artists, photographers and designers that we will be debuting as often as once a month. We are designing for the wide diversity of people that love cannabis.”
Is there anything else you would like to add?
“We are genuinely excited to share our brand and heritage via apparel and can’t wait to show you all we have planned. “
High Times published its first issue in 1973 and has transformed itself into the number one source for news, product suggestions, and pretty much anything related to cannabis culture. They even have one of the largest marijuana trade shows, High Times Cannabis Cub, where growers and smokers convene once a year for the ultimate smoke session and more.
Sure, there’s already a bunch of clothing lines out there surrounded around cannabis culture, but rocking something from the official High Times Shop shows your level of maturity.
